#AdoptDontShop is a popular slogan used by rescue centres to encourage aspiring pet owners to adopt, rather than purchase from a breeder or elsewhere. Below are some of the benefits of adopting from our animal centre, to aid you in making your decision.

- You will be providing an animal with the loving home they deserve. For some – previously abused, neglected or abandoned – you could be showing them love, safety and comfort for the first time. For others who came into our care simply due to a change in their previous owner’s circumstances, you would be giving them a second chance at living a happy and healthy life.

- When you adopt from us, it means we will then have the space to care for another animal who needs our help. The more this cycle continues, the more we are able to help even more animals in need.

- If you adopt from an animal centre, it is more likely you will fall in love due to the animal’s personality rather than their appearance. Our Perfect Match Form is designed to match you to a pet that perfectly suits your lifestyle, therefore the animal you end up taking home may be completely different to the one you thought you wanted. You will be invited to our animal centre for a ‘meet and greet’ – an opportunity to meet and bond with the animal before taking them home, and to talk with the team who have looked after them.

- Animals in rescue are more likely to have had some basic training, including commands, lead manners and housetraining. They may also have received more socialisation around other animals. This gives you a helpful head start when you take them home.

- It is much more financially beneficial for you to adopt. Our adoption fee includes defleaing, worming, a full course of vaccinations, a vet health check and neutering. If you buy your pet elsewhere, it is likely that you will have to fund these extras yourself. With us, you also get a voucher to spend in our pet store, plus 4 weeks free pet insurance. - All our animals are vet checked upon entry, regularly whilst with us and before leaving our care. This means that we will not knowingly rehome an animal to you with any health conditions – for any ongoing condition, we will advise you of the care required. They will have received the best possible medical care whilst with us, and will be fully vaccinated.

- Our support does not stop once the animal leaves our centre. We will always be here to offer you advice as you need it, whether it be 1 week, 1 month or even 1 year post-adoption. We spend a lot of time with our animals prior to adoption, getting to know their likes and dislikes, preferred diet, habits and any quirky traits – we can share this information with you to make a smoother transition to a home environment.
