In 2017, charity shops diverted more than 323,000 tonnes of textiles waste away from landfill while improving recycling and re-use rates

UK charity shops reuse and recycling activity also helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 7 million tonnes per year.

We can do better…

Get your weekend off to a good start!

When you donate goods to a charity shop, four things happen:

1) You stop waste going to landfill.

2) This saves your local council paying landfill tax.

3) It helps the environment.

4) Raises money to support the animals at RSPCA Doncaster, Rotherham & District Branch

Charity shops are able to sell or recycle over 90 per cent of donated clothing, over 90 per cent of donated books and 85 per cent of donated electrical goods, every time you donate goods to a charity shop, you can help stop them going to landfill sites.

Not only is this great for you and your local community but this also saves your local council paying landfill tax, helps the environment, and raises vital funds for our rehabilitating and rehoming work.

So the next time you’re about to throw out those old jeans (or those a bit too snug jeans) think about making a donation at your local RSPCA charity shop - help the planet, help the animals, help the community.
