International Cat Day takes place on August 8th every year. Let's celebrate and show the appreciation we have for our feline friends.

Humans and cats have a long and interesting history together. Did you know Ancient Egyptians had such a love for cats they believed they were gods and worshipped them as such? They even had a festival in honour of Bastet - a half-human, half feline Goddess. The festival was described as one of the largest and most enthusiastically celebrated in all of Egypt by the Greek historian Herodotus. They built large catteries which were maintained by the temple priests.

We might not worship cats as the Ancient Egyptians did, but modern families still have a deep love for their furry friends.
