Update 26/3/20

We need your help – urgently.

COVID 19 has hit us all hard and has resulted in a new normal for the entire world. Here at the Animal Centre, it has had a detrimental effect on our day to day running. Since last week, our charity shops have ceased trading and our upcoming events have been postponed; we have had 95% of our vital income taken away from us. We are a self-funding branch so this is devastating for our animal centre.

In order to continue to provide the best possible care to our current residents we will continue to adapt to the changing situation. We are running on reduced staff numbers and will unfortunately have to postpone adoptions for the foreseeable future. However, this does not mean the hard work of our team stops; there are still animals of all shapes and sizes that need caring for.

Rocket is one of our current residents who requires a little extra TLC. Inspector Reid brought him to our centre with concerns over the poor state of his skin. He is currently being treated and requires veterinary prescribed food to aid his recovery. He is a sweet little lad  who loves affection and ear scratches. It is vital that he gets the treatment he needs to prevent further suffering.

Suki the cat was brought to us as an inspector welfare concern after it was discovered she had cancerous growths on her ears, most likely due to sunburn. She was operated on by our friends at Peak Vets and is making fantastic progress in her recovery. At only a year old, Suki will hopefully have a long, happy life ahead of her when she moves on to her forever home.

And the need doesn’t stop; we are still taking in emergency cases from our National Inspector colleagues.

We need help and are launching an emergency appeal for donations to help us keep running. A £5 donation is the equivalent of feeding a dog for three days, while a £25 donation will provide vital veterinary medicines and healthcare. You can donate via paypal, our website or Facebook page. You can also donate £5 by texting RSPCADRB to 70085.

As always, thank you for your continued support and we wish all our local followers the best of health and urge you to take care of yourselves.
