Shop National Pet ID Week April 17th-23rd marks National Pet ID week and acts as a great reminder to ensure your pet's identification details are up to date, whether this be in the form of a microchip or collar and tag. In 2016, it became compulsory for all dogs to be microchipped and we are hopeful that the same will come into effect for cats too. It is also a legal requirement for all dogs to wear a collar in public, with a tag attached that clearly displays its owner's name and address. A contact number is also recommended. Microchipping should not be used as a substitute for a collar and tag, and vice versa. For full protection and precaution - and to comply with the law - we strongly advise that as well as having your pet microchipped, you also get them a collar and tag (with all your details engraved onto the tag). As part of our strategy to promote responsible pet ownership, we offer both a pet tag service and microchipping service at our animal centre. Pet tags are available to purchase in our pet supplies shop, where we will engrave them with all of your necessary details. Our pet supplies shop is situated at our animal centre on Great North Road, Bawtry, and is open from 11am until 4pm every day except Wednesday. We offer a microchipping service all year round, also at our animal centre. For more information or to book an appointment, please call 01302 719790. These identification methods will only reach full effectivity if your details are up to date. This means that if you ever move house or change your contact number, you should notify the microchipping database and update your pet's ID tag.
