This little sweetie was found straying at the back of a row of shops in Doncaster. Clearly in distress and a lot of pain, she was found with a large, open wound and significant swelling on her front leg. Her bones were exposed. After being taken to our friends at Peak Vets, it was determined her injuries were most likely the result of a nasty dog bite that had been ignored and become severely infected. To give Sugar the best chance at survival she may have had to lose her leg. However, as operation day approached, the vet was astounded by the improvement the wound had made resulting in a new plan – flush and clean the wound with the help of some extra medication.

Just a few weeks later and with a lot of care and attention from the team the wound was beginning to close. Since then, she has slowly been learning to use her leg again and even learning how to catch a tennis ball in her cone!

Sugar was found just in time before the infection had chance to take over her whole body. She is now looking for her forever home but it could have been a very different story.
