Have you seen Honey on the news?

One of our new arrivals is making headlines this week after coming to us through awful and shocking circumstances. A local Bentley resident was walking his dog when he saw Honey launched from a car into Mill Dyke.  He instantly stepped in and managed to save Honey with the help of a passer-by.

Honey was taken to a vet as she was clearly in a bad state with an exposed abscess among other injuries. Staff at Vets 4 Pets in Wheatley clipped the matted fur away so they could see if there were any further medical issues and found she had fleas and cuts on her skin.

Honey then came to us to continue her treatment and get a little extra TLC while she is recovering.  Our national inspector colleague Graeme Petty said: "For a person to callously throw a neglected cat into water to an almost certain death is absolutely awful. She had been fully submerged in the water and, because of her weak state and the fact she was cold, had the dog walker not intervened I am sure she would have not survived. His heroic actions saved her life." Honey did not deserve the ordeal that she has been through and we can only hope that the culprits are found.

Just like Honey, there are so many other animals that need our help. If able to, please help us to help them by donating to us. We rely more than ever on kind donations from our supporters to keep running. A £5 donation is the equivalent of feeding a cat for three days, while a £25 donation will provide vital veterinary medicines and healthcare. You can donate below, via Paypal or our Facebook page. You can also donate £5 by texting RSPCADRB to 70085.

Thank you for your continued support and we wish all our local community the best of health and urge you to take care of yourselves.
